Jonathan Pollard – Head Instructor Jonathan, known as JP, played baseball for Salem State from 1999-2002. His junior and senior seasons, he was elected team Captain and onto the All-MASCAC team. Senior year, he earned team MVP. JP returned to Salem State in 2003 as an assistant coach. JP is now a co-manager with the New England Sox – a women’s baseball team that has won the Roy Hobbs National Championship Tournament the past 4 years. The Sox have had 8 players named to the US National Team during that time. In 2007, Jonathan played for Carlson Club of The Boston Park League, hitting .349 and was amongst the league leaders in slugging percentage (.530), RBI (20) and stolen bases (11). He was named a league all-star and voted tops at his position by his peers. Pollard plays for manager Cookie Delcarmen – father of Red Sox star Manny Delcarmen. In 2007, Jonathan also played for the Boston Tigers of the Boston Men’s Baseball League, and was awarded as the league’s Most Valuable Player while batting .365 and near the top of the leader board in almost every offensive category. JP is also the founder and head instructor of The Stable Baseball Academy, a program aimed at producing scholarship worthy student athletes. JP is available for hitting, fielding, and pitching instruction. |

Michael Morgan – Extra Innings InstructorCoach Morgan specializes in hitting and catching instruction. Mike played high school baseball at Burlington High School, where he was a member of Jim Curtain's varsity baseball program all 4 years. Mike led the team in batting average during his sophomore season, and was a Middlesex League All Star in his Junior and Senior seasons. After high school, Mike went on to become a four year starter at Salem State College where he hit over .360 each season. Mike captained the Viking Baseball Team in 2003 and 2004. He was also named to the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference All-Conference team in each of these seasons. As a senior, Mike was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Vikings Baseball Team. During this season, Mike also set the Salem State record for runners caught stealing in a single game (7). Mike began his coaching career in 2005 after he was asked to return to his alma mater as a Graduate Assistant. After his time with Salem, Mike took the Varsity Assistant Coach position at Marblehead High School. In 2005, Mike accepted the head coaching position for the Nashua Pioneers of the North American Women’s Baseball League. In his time there, the Pioneers reached a ranking of #2 in the nation. Mike is a tremendous teacher of the game and is available for hitting and catching instruction. |

Brian Blumsack – Extra Innings InstructorBrian Blumsack is the current head coach at Framingham State College. Prior to
Framingham State Brian spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lake City
Community College in Florida. While at Lake City, Blumsack coached over 20 players
drafted by Major League teams including a 10th round pick for the Los Angeles Angels
of Anaheim. As Pitching Coach, Blumsack’s 2006 staff led the state of Florida with over
400 strikeouts, posted a 3.44 ERA and led Lake City to the Florida Community College
Activity Association State Playoffs and a runner up finish in the Mid-Florida
Conference. In 2007 Lake City compiled 36 wins, produced the state, and conference
relief pitcher of the year, as well as the conference player of the year. Lake City's
program was nationally ranked in 2006 by Baseball America, and again in 2007 by
Perfect Game. Brian is also the current manager of the Gately Athletics of the Intercity
League, an elite wood bat league in New England, comprised of college, ex-college,
and ex-professional players. As a player Brian spent his freshman season pitching for
the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (1999) before transferring to Central Florida
Community College (2000). After his sophomore season at CFCC, Brian finished his
playing career at Suffolk University (Boston, MA) where he captained the 2002 team
that advanced to the NCAA New England Regional Tournament. Brian was a two-sport
standout at Malden High School (MA) where he was named, Greater Boston League
MVP, Boston Globe All Scholastic, and Massachusetts All Star in baseball as well as a
first team Greater Boston League selection as a point guard in basketball. Brian is
available for pitching, hitting, and fielding instruction. |

Donna Mills – Head Softball InstructorDonna began her athletic career in the early 80's playing baseball in the Pine Hill Little League. Donna played 3 years in the majors and was one of the first females to be selected to the League All-Star team. Donna picked up a softball for the first time in 1988, having made the Varsity Softball team at Lynn Tech as a catcher/shortstop. She was a 4 year varsity letter winner, a 4 year starter, and an All-Star all 4 years. She was selected as the Commonwealth Conference MVP her junior and senior years. Donna attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell on a softball scholarship. She was a varsity letter winner from 1992-1996, as a starting shortstop. Donna was selected to the N.E.C.C. All-Stars in 1995 and 1996. She was a New England Collegiate Conference 1st Team All-Conference, N.E.I.S.C.A selection, and winner of the University of Massachusetts at Lowell Student/Athlete award in 1996. Donna holds several school offensive records and was listed among the ‘Top 10' Division II, hitters in the country during her tenure. Donna went back to baseball in 2000. From 2001-2004, Donna was a member of Team USA, participating in 4 World Series, as the starting third baseman. Having the opportunity to play in Toronto, Tampa, Australia, and Japan. In 2001, Team USA won the first ever World Series and Donna was selected as Co-MVP. From 2004- 2008, Donna was a member of USA Baseball Women’s National Team. Participating in 3 World Cups in Canada, Taiwan, and Japan, as the starting third baseman. In 2004 and 2006, USA Baseball took home gold medals. In 2006, Donna was selected as MVP and All-Star of the World Cup. This past August, Donna was a member of the 2008 USA Baseball Women’s National Team and took home the bronze medal in the World Cup. Donna is a member of the New England Sox, women’s baseball team, they’ve won 5 National Championships in a row. The New England Sox have a combined record of 71- 6. Donna has instructed private lessons, clinics, and camps across the country. Focusing on hitting and holds the knowledge of every defensive position. Donna has coached at both of her Alma Maters; the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and Lynn Tech. She currently coaches at Lynn English High School in Lynn, MA. Donna’s batting gloves are currently on display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY., In the Diamond Dreams Exhibit, dedicated to women in baseball. An achievement that Donna is most proud of. Donna is able to teach all aspects of softball. |

John “Smokey” Moore – Extra Innings InstructorCoach John “Smokey” Moore grew up in Somerville, Ma where his playing experience has taken him from Somerville Little League, Somerville Babe Ruth, Somerville High School, and Minuteman Regional High School in Lexington, Ma and also Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. John Moore has also played in some of the Boston area’s top amateur leagues for many years such as the Intercity League with the former Augustine A’s (Now Gately A’s), Elm Supply (Now Cassell Club) and also of the Boston Park League with Mass Envelope while he was still in high school. He currently still plays and pitches competitively within the Boston Men’s Baseball League’s MSBL – North Shore Black Sox. Coach John “Smokey” Moore is among the All Time league leaders in MSBL for hitting (.432 career average) and also for pitching (2.37 ERA lifetime). His coaching resume is extensive. He has been coaching baseball for nearly a quarter of a century now beginning in 1984 within the Somerville Little League system and currently coaches at St. Mary’s Cal Ripken in Revere, Ma where he has resided with his wife and 2 children for nearly 20 years. Also, Coach John is a coach within the AAU Super Division - Boston Jr. Rams AAU 11U -16U. |

Dan Jalbert – Extra Innings InstructorDan Jalbert graduated from Danvers High School in 1994 and St. Lawrence University in 1998, serving as team Captain in his senior year at both. He was also the starting varsity catcher for both his junior and senior years in high school and college. Dan has served as head coach in 12U and 13U AAU, an assistant coach at Danvers High School, and currently as an assistant coach at Emmanuel College. He has played during the summer for the past 8 seasons in the Boston MABL and Yawkey Leagues as a perennial all-star catcher and DH. Dan is available for hitting, catching, and pitching lessons on the weekends. |

Bill Shields – Extra Innings Instructor Bill Shields, a native of Winchester, played for Dowling College on Long Island as the
starting first basemen and designated hitter from 1996 to 2000. He helped lead
Dowling to three consecutive post season appearances. In 1998, Shields helped
Dowling to the ECAC Championship, NYCAC championship game and a 26-11 overall
record, the second best finish in school history. Coach Shields was a assistant coach at
Frostburg State University (2005-2008). Coach Shields was responsible for the hitters
and the position players, and head of recruiting duties for the bobcats. Shields
developed a off-season conditioning program, which includes weight lifting, running,
throwing, and stretching. With a Masters in education, coach Shields is highly qualified
to assess each student-athlete’s strengths and weaknesses and guide them in the
right direction for physical success on the baseball field. His final coaching season,
Frostburg finished 31-15 overall with a 13-5 conference record. The team captured the
AMCC title and advanced on to the NCAA tournament for the second time in as many
years. As the Frostburg hitting and fielding coach Shields has seen drastic improvement
in the team’s success. Shields helped raise the team’s batting average (.022) and
finished 34th in the country in batting average. The Bobcats teams Fielding % in 2006
was .948 with 76 errors, with a lot of hard work in the off-season the players improved
to a fielding % of .967 and 53 errors. With the improvements in the teams fielding the
team finished 10th overall in the country in fielding percentage. During his time at
Frostburg coach Shields has created a hitting-pitching and fielding program that
focuses on developing the proper mechanics for young players ranging from 5-18
offering guidance to youth baseball players in the area. Coach Shields was head coach
of the Haymarket Senators in the Valley Baseball League in the Summer of 2008.
Shields took over a team that finished last in the valley league in 2007 with a record of
11-39. The Haymarket Senators finished the 2008 season with a 19-28 record and a trip
to the playoffs. “Bill was a welcome addition to the Haymarket Senators family and we
were excited to have him on board. His experience, baseball knowledge and
personality was a great asset to the team and we are confident that these strengths
are what lead the Haymarket Senators to a successful 2008 summer season,” says
Bernie Schaffler, Owner of the Haymarket Senators. The Valley Baseball League is
funded in part by a grant from Major League Baseball and is a member of the National
Alliance of College Summer Baseball, a national affiliation of summer leagues. The
league has produced well over 1,000 professional baseball players, including a record
79 former players drafted in the most recent Major League Baseball First-Year Player
Draft in June, 2008.
